Youth Council

All 12 districts of Lancashire have a youth council. Each youth council is supported by a member of staff.

Young people who attend the district youth councils come together to make up Lancashire Youth Council (LYC), the young people meet together monthly at a central location in Preston to have their voices heard at a local and national level.
Lancashire Youth Council members meet with paid makers of Lancashire Council, County Councilors and Cabinet Members to discuss issues that affect the young people they represent.
This year the young people have been discussing and working on the following campaign areas;

When we meet;

  • LYC Campaign Evenings, we meet as a whole LYC every month in Preston to work on the above campaign areas. . To find out what the young people have been working on and achieving at their meetings click on the blue LYC above.
  • On Thursday 15th December 2011 6:00pm - 8:30pm Lancashire Youth Council are holding an open evening for young people aged 13-19 who would may be interested in the campaigns we are working on.
